The mechanism of action of sulfachloroppyrazine is bacteriostatic, based on a competitive-antagonistic relationship with para-aminobenzoic acid (a component of folic acid), as long as its concentration is at least 5,000 times. Sulfonamides are sensitive microorganisms that produce folic acid. Competitive inhibition of para-aminobenzoic acid in the metabolism of bacteria and protozoa. The drug is absorbed in the small intestine, from where it is distributed throughout the body. It passes into the cerebrospinal fluid, into exudates and transudates, and into the synovial fluid.
